You might also try running Migration Assistant from the Macbook and see if you can get it to transfer through it. You must be using Mac OS X Joel, How do I tell if the Powerbook firmware is up to date? Where do I look and what do I look for? The Trash will change to an eject icon as you drag. Once you have ejected the Target drive, you can unplug the Firewire cable and reboot the other computer to bring it up in normal mode.
