You can also use two large flatheads in a cross formation with the blades on opposite sides and twist them against each other.

Got it out and back in in no more than 5 minutes. I just made something quick out of scrap pipe. Worked like a charm. Shelf bracket from hardware store, vice grips:. My Photo Gallery: 1. Last edited by diagnosticator; at PM. Vorsprung durch Technik. I fabricated a tool using a short length of 4" ABS pipe, 2" long, and a file to form the lugs that fit the fuel pump basket.
On the handle end, I used a 1" tee, and two 4" long 1" plastic pipe lengths, all glued together to the 1 foot long pipe connected to the 4" ring. Using this tool, steady pressure does the trick.
I used a large flathead and a deadblow and was just really careful. Was simple enough. Originally Posted by Charles. Cross two prybars and twist. Used this method probably 50x. Before camber and tire stretch, there was horsepower and performance.
Took about 20mins to get this job done. It took me a while to break the pump free just from being extra careful trying not to break the plastic.
Ended up getting away with the flat had and hammer method. Took some solid hits for the pump to break free. I like the other ideas mentioned in here though. Originally Posted by diagnosticator. And lastly, make sure, if your car has a small, formed plastic fuel return tube under that tank cover, to be sure that fits into the funnel-shaped hole in the mounting base. Otherwise, it may interfere with the float and give you fuel gauge problems bet you can figure out why I know.
To get my pump in and out, I used two 1" x 1" Aluminum angle bars about 1' long each, cross and twist, very easy. Don't use steel, which can spark. Get two large open ended spanners I used 21 and 22mm , and place the open ends into the tabs on the opposite sides of the basket.
Use a large size to get as much leverage as possible. Video successfully uploaded. Your video will appear once it is approved. Add Another Video.
