Monday, October 5, PM. The report is also showing an installation of a Volume Licensing edition of Outlook Although the status is showing as "Genuine," that applies only to installations of Outlook done with the Volume Licensing Product Key by the organization holding the current Volume Licensing Agreement associated with this VLK. If you are not associated with this organization, your use of this VLK to install and use Outlook is nongenuine.
Volume Licensing editions of Office such as your installation of Office Professional are not to be sold to individual consumers, and are only to be sold to larger businesses, educational institutions, and governmental agencies who need flexibility in installing and deploying many copies of Office. These Volume Licenses should not be sold to consumers because they are not permanent licenses; they are subject to a current Volume Licensing Agreement that has a finite term, sort of like a lease.
Consumers thinking they purchased permanently licensd software would understandably be upset when their software stopped working at the end of a lease. Open the Control Panel. It is not an Excel add-in to be removed from Excel's Tools menu, but an additional program pushed by Microsoft Update to installed copies of Office and Office And how exactly would you go about uninstalling for a network of machines? Our machines are hosed now because of this update.
Manual install is not an option. In a network of that size you should have a software deployment solution. You might execute the following script to uninstall the Add-In:. Again and again MS is driving me nuts with their QA absence. And to release the update with such a known issue is just.. Maybe they are pushing their customers to upgrade in such weird way?
Btw, this affects Office on my network too when they try to open bigger xls files. I am unable to find a solution for my office in a windows 7 64 machine here. There are no registry entries for office in the installation. My excel programs were working flawlessly prior to this tool being forced upon me. Now evey the simplest are impossible to run or complete.
Have you removed the script yet or does it continue to run at each login? Reason I ask is I wonder if the add-in will re-appear when the script is removed. Thinking just removing the folder would create an option to select the "Don't show me this update again" option, I did that.
Unfortunately, I overlooked the possibility that MU keeps a list somewhere of downloaded updates. It does. I still am offered the opportunity to install the update, without the desired checkbox to not show me the update - only now, I don't have the folder or file.
I assume that the download database or catalog may be damaged if I tell it to install when I know the OFV. I don't understand why the Fix-It doesn't work for you. Run this Fix-It again and make sure the Registry value is set.
If you feel unsure about a virus warning, upload the file to virustotal. When you uninstall OFV, then you uninstall the protection for all Office applications. You can prevent the installation when you select the expert's option when Windows offers the installation the next time right-click the yellow shield in the traybar. Disable the checkbox for it, and confirm it. The execution of the script could be prevented by your virus scanner.
Create the registry value manually and you are done. If you have an up-to-date virus scanner then you can uninstall OFV. It is an additional protection mechanism and you had been living without it until the installation of the hotfix.
There are often old disks "hiding" in dark corners of storage rooms. Try to find a local "PC Computer Club". There is almost certainly a geek or three with disks you could borrow. Find a small local computer store or repair business.
They often have old versions of software because they are still supporting customers using them. At the small repair business they may have old computers that customers had upgraded from that include OEM Office that you could now use. You could buy it online.
Be very careful who you give your money to. I just got a hand-me-down laptop from a family member. They had Microsoft Office installed. I tried to uninstall it and install the version. However, the different service packs confused me and I wasn't sure what to download. How can I reinstall my version? And if I do, do I have to pay for it? This thread is locked.
